“Night at the Museum....An Author’s Evening” - 2011-12 Series Announced

The Southwest Florida Museum of History will enter its fourth season this Fall of offering Author’s Evenings from 6:00-7:30 pm on Wednesday or Thursday evenings of selected months. Author’s Evenings is a community-based event open to the public to help raise funds for Museum exhibits. The event includes the featured author’s presentation, a meet-and-greet, book signing, and admission to the Museum all for just $15, tax-deductible.

Featured authors from a variety of genres including historical, mystery, non-fiction, business, and thrillers. Previous authors include favorite Robert Macomber, renowned photographer Clyde Butcher, irreverent Tim Dorsey, and Tina Wainscott, to name a few. The 2011-12 Author’s Evening schedule features a line-up of new and favorite authors!

On Wednesday, November 16th, spend an evening with Amy Bennett Williams at the Museum as she weaves for us the story of the Caloosahatchee River and its inhabitants from its beginnings to becoming a central artery to our area today. She’ll introduce us to her new book, Images of America: Along the Caloosahatchee River. This treasured writer whose lyrical prose brings images of Southwest Florida to life, does so through her work with WGCU, the News-Press features and weekly Tropicalia section.

Returning for his fourth season to the Museum, beloved fine-arts black and white photographer Clyde Butcher opens the 2012 season on Thursday, February 2nd with an Author’s Evening that also kicks-off his exclusive traveling exhibition at the Museum! The Museum celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2012 and so native son Clyde Butcher has specially designed an exhibition to take Museum guests through the process of his work as the Museum takes visitors through history. ‘Photographic Journal of Clyde Butcher,’ will present in stages the story of Clyde’s work and process with the photograph from idea conception to execution including the negative, technical details, darkroom information, images of him photographing the scene, and the story of the pursuit of the photograph. An Author’s Evening with Clyde Butcher always sells out so reserve your space(s). Admission to Clyde’s Author’s Evening includes his admission to his intriguing exhibit!
Coming Wednesday, October 24th to debut his much-anticipated 10th novel is popular Pine Island maritime author, Robert Macomber! He returns with more swashbuckling stories as he introduces the latest installment in his ‘Honor’ series, Honorable Lies, and shares fascinating tales of his research and other adventures in Cuba.
