The Southwest Florida Museum of History announces a special author for this season as part of the Authors Evening Series, a community-based monthly event open to the public to help raise funds for the museum.

Join us on Wednesday, May 20th at 7 pm as author Estela Delgado shares the debut of her book, Hidden Souls, (Almas Escondidas). As the possibility comes closer to reality - that Cuba may be opened to travel by Americans – this book is incredibly timely. The debut of Hidden Souls, (Almas Escondidas) by author Estela Delgado relates short stories of today’s Cuba and the life of those living in America’s island neighbor.

Delgado pours her heart into her storytelling sharing her feelings about departing her beloved island and the devastation of leaving her family while weaving in snapshots of Cuba and the life lead by those remaining.

The author’s literary journey is as fascinating as her personal one. Estela Delgado was born in Cojimar, Cuba, a small town in La Habana. She studied and graduated from the University of Habana, with a degree in Foreign Languages, giving her the opportunity to travel around her beloved Cuba, the United States and Europe.

Estela is also the author of the famed poem, “The Lord is My King” which was adopted to music for “Hands Across America” 2005 Volume 14 of New World Studios.

Don’t miss the opportunity to experience Cuba first-hand with this author during a specially scheduled Author’s Evening on Wednesday, May 20 from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Southwest Florida Museum of History.

This evening includes coffee, Latin fare from Mimi’s Café, dessert from Mason's Bakery, the featured author presentation, a meet-and-greet book signing and admission to the Museum, all for just $10, tax-deductible.

Reservations are required by calling 239-321-7430.

The new season 2009-2010 Author Evening series begins September 9th - April. Watch our web site for the upcoming Author Evening listings!
