The Southwest Florida Museum of History Foundation, Inc. continues the 20082009 Authors Evening Series with beloved finearts black and white photographer Clyde Butcher on October 8th.
Renowned for his spectacular portraits, his work has been featured in several publications and most recently, in a book commissioned to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Jamestown. This acclaimed book, ‘America the Beautiful,’ reveals the American landscape through Butcher’s iconic mastery of the black and white portrait.
Now, Clyde shares this book, his experiences and photography during the Author’s Evening. This evening is a communitybased monthly event open to the public to help raise funds for the museum and is held the 2nd Wednesday of each month September – April (EXCEPT November) at the museum when it hosts an author from a variety of genres from 7-9 pm.
Clyde shares his experiences and his work on this exclusive evening during a presentation followed by a meetandgreet and dessert by Mason's Bakery. For just $10 per person (taxdeductible) attendees will enjoy the dessert, a presentation by Clyde Butcher and a meetandgreet book signing. AND Guests will experience Clyde’s work firsthand in the museum as that evening’s admission includes a visit in the Museum’s Exhibit Gallery where Clyde Butcher's Exhibit; Visions of Florida: A Clyde Butcher Retrospective, is showing! This exhibit features two portraits created especially for the museum by Clyde.
Be sure to stop by the museum gift store where Clyde’s other merchandise is available for sale (then autographing!) and make great holiday gifts!
