Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Ft. Myers in the River District

Offered every year, January – April ONLY. Reservations are a must as these tours are very popular and often sold-out!

Uncover the legends, lore and rivalry that built our town! Enjoy a downtown Walking Tour of historic Ft. Myers where you will see the location of the old Fort, hear the legends surrounding Ft. Myers, unearth the rivalry that built at least six buildings and assorted businesses, view the restored buildings that house the stories of yesteryear and see the renaissance taking place to keep our history alive.

The historic Downtown Walking Tours average about 1½ hours and originate at the historic Atlantic Coastline Railroad restored train depot today known as the Southwest Florida Museum of History. For nearly two decades, the tours – conducted from January to April once a week – on Wednesday mornings at 10 am every week – escort visitors on a relaxing, scenic tour detailing the history behind the businesses and buildings of the downtown River District including the Arcade Theatre, the site of Fort Myers and a huge Mural hidden amongst the downtown buildings in a courtyard!

Learn the legends, hear the lore, experience the history and take in the beautiful waterfront during this tour. Discover how every building has a story.

Please call 239-321-7430 to make reservations. Tours begin in mid-January and continue through mid-April and cost just $5 per person. Walking Tours attendees and their guests can extend their visit with a $5 admission to the museum when they have their Walking Tour receipt stamped!
